So this week marks 13 of them since there was any kind of bend in the knee, but hopefully that will change later this week.
The stitches and staples are likely to come out by the end of the week, and hopefully that will mean a new brace with a hinged knee joint that limits the motion. One of the biggest concerns at this point is the healing of the wounds -- one of about 10 inches in the knee and a smaller one in the hip. Toward that end, we have to be careful with how much we start bending. But even a limited bend of just 10 degrees will allow for a little bit more physical therapy than just sitting in a chair doing isometrics.
Aside from the wounds, we need to make sure things don't start moving too quickly because it could lead to a breakdown of some of the tissue in both joints. Although the implant process is different than it was back in 1985, some things still need to heal properly.
Everything feel so good I sometimes have to remember what a major deal this has been!
